by FSAviator and Tom Gibson

Version 1, 3/2011

FS2004 ONLY

**************************************************************

To use the technology demonstrator you must download the Avro York and RAF Hudson MkIII cited below. The Avro York gauges are by Phil Perrott (Alphasim). The Hudson model is by Dave Carroll, Paul Straney, and High Mountain. The RAF textures are by James Peach. The Select Correct gauge is by Rob Barendregt. See original readme files for other credits.

Note: Before flying this plane you must read and understand the CP airscrew mini tutorial.txt file, found inside the FS2004/Aircraft/Lockheed L414 Hudson I folder.

Note: When flying this plane you must refer to the Handling Notes. Press F10 while flying to bring up the Kneeboard and click the Reference icon.

Note: This is the first release of this technology for use in Microsoft Flight Simulator - other types of controllable and adjustable props can be created as well, and may be released later.

Note: Details for other developers desiring to use this technology in their own freeware planes will be provided later at the California Classic Tutorials page:

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: This plane is for FS2004 ONLY.

NOTE: If you get an "overwrite?" message during this installation you may say NO if you wish. This simply means that you have already installed the relevant files.

1. Inside this zip file you will find a folder called Lockheed L414 Hudson I. Copy this folder into your FS2004/Aircraft folder (Right click the folder, choose Copy. Then within the Aircraft folder, right click and choose Paste.)

2. Inside this zip file you will find a folder called Gauges. Double click this folder to open it, and inside you will find some gauge files and some folders. Copy all of these files and folders into your FS2004/Gauges folder. NOTE: Do NOT copy the entire GAUGES folder!

3. Inside this zip file you will find a folder called Sound. Double click this folder to open it, and inside you will find a folder called KM. Copy this KM folder into your FS2004/Sound folder. NOTE: Do NOT copy the entire SOUND folder! Copy the entire KM folder!

4. Now download the Hudson from the VirtualWings webpage.

http://www.virtualwings.org/hudson

As you will see various models of Hudson and various liveries are available, but they are all for use in CFS2 not MSFS. Steps 1 and 2 above, of this 'technology demonstration' provide the code that enables use of the relevant files within FS9.

For more information on these CFS2 Hudsons' history etc., refer to:

http://www.virtualwings.org/hudson/index.htm

The required Hudson MDL (model) file and the RAF 1940-41 textures we will be using within FS9 are inside;

http://www.virtualwings.org/hudson/uan.htm

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click download.

5.Unzip the Hudson download, by double clicking it. Locate the model folder and copy it to your new Lockheed L414 Hudson I folder. Then locate the texture folder and also copy it to your Lockheed L414 Hudson I folder.

6. Now download the FS9 Avro York from:

    http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=148464&Name=&FileName=&Author=&CatID=root
    or:
    http://www.britsim.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=162&func=fileinfo&id=710

Unzip the avroyork.zip or Avro_York.zip file (depending on download source). Inside you will find an Avro_York folder. Double click it, and inside that folder you will find a panel folder. Inside that folder you will find two folders, Radio and York. Copy those two folders to your FS2004/Gauges folder.

7. Copy the DeHavilland_Comet.CAB file from the FS2004/Aircraft/DeHavilland_Comet/panel folder into your FS2004/Gauges folder.

8. Copy the Lockheed_Vega.CAB file from the FS2004/Aircraft/Lockheed_Vega/panel folder into your FS2004/Gauges folder.

9. Copy the Douglas_DC3.CAB file from the FS2004/Aircraft/Douglas_DC3/panel folder into your FS2004/Gauges folder.

10. Please check that inside your FS2004/Aircraft/Lockheed L414 Hudson I folder there is a model and a texture folder. If they are not there please recheck all steps above.

11.  The c/p prop technology demonstrator will be found in the Select Aircraft menu as;

Lockheed/HudsonI/RAF Coastal Command.

12. Now you must read and understand the CP airscrew mini tutorial.txt file, found inside your FS2004/Aircraft/Lockheed L414 Hudson I folder.

13. When flying this plane you must refer to the Handling Notes. Press F10 while flying to bring up the Kneeboard and click the Reference icon.
